A Journey I Never Thought Was Possible

Hello everyone. I'm Anindya and I am going to share about one of my experiences. That experience is about my competitive gaming. It is a story of 2022-23 when I got the chance to go and compete with Nepal along with my team. It was from a game named "Mobile Legends" which is a MOBA game.

Since I was little, I played different kind of games, like racing games, shooter games etc. As I was kind of a nerd from childhood, I memorized lineups even in shooter games even though my aim was bad as it seemed fun. Then I came across with the MOBA game League of Legends in 2015. It is a type of game where to play good , a good memory and patience is required. From then I got hooked on this game. Then in 2016, I got in touch with the  game Mobile Legends which is the same type of a game with a different platform, in other words it is played in mobile. From then I started to learn more and more about the MOBA genre.

In 2020, I got myself into a professional team named "Unmad" which was comparatively a new team and so was me because till then I was completely unknown to and in that community. When I joined the team, everyone welcomed and adored me as their little brother as I was very young in age. Then I started playing tournaments which were only local because there were no international opportunities for Bangladesh. In 2022 the chance came. Official tournaments were hosted for Bangladesh and Nepal. Somehow we got to be one of the champion teams from Bangladesh in the tournament that was hosted to select the teams for competing against Nepal.

In 2023, the tournament was hosted for Bangladesh and Nepal champion representatives. It was one of the best experiences of my life. Although we could not go any farther from the top four, the moments we enjoyed are incomparable.

People I have known through the game are not just acquaintances, they have become more than friends. As I interact less in real life, people I have met in online games have become a huge part of my life. The teammates I have got throughout the years, they have always considered me as their little brother. In any problems that I have faced, they were always there. They were the ones who kept eyes on my studies too. I was not allowed to play the games until I complete my regular studies. The countless nights we spent in playing the games were the best moments that I enjoyed. Even the lose in the tournament was a bittersweet memory of ours.

From 2020,  there was the lockdown because of the COVID breakout. On that time, the people I have met in the game, the times we have enjoyed in those harsh times will always be the best memories of my life. They are more like brothers and sisters to me now. They helped me in my college life studies. Basically they were the ones who helped me go through the hard times when there was covid news everywhere. The way strangers became so much close, it is just amazing that even I was able to interact with them as I always avoid interactions.

Mobile Legends is one of the top e-sports games based on peak viewers. There is a world championship event for this game which is held in Singapore. Until now, Bangladesh was not given any chance. This year the chance was given. A single team from Bangladesh and Nepal could go to that world championship. Even though the team which we had been building for 4 years had the potential and a chance to go compete with the world, it is too late now. All of the members have become busy with their daily lives and studies. Some of them are going abroad, some have their jobs. Thus the team is now no more. A hard luck. But still I do not have any regrets. I have enjoyed my time in the competitive gaming. I also don't have the adequate time needed for competitive as I have started my higher studies. Those memories that I have, I will always cherish them as they were the best times of my life.
